One of the cleanest Indonesian espressos we've had the pleasure of roasting.

Produced by nationally recognised producer Yolan Tirta in Topidi Village, Malino, Sulawesi, this washed lot is a beautiful example of the clarity and consistency that has made his coffees some of our favourites. Roasted medium-light for espresso, it delivers a remarkably clean cup with a soft, approachable sweetness.

Expect rich palm sugar sweetness with a deep, umami-like character, layered with the caramelised sweetness of custard apple (srikaya) and a gentle biscuit-like nuttiness. Enjoy it black for a clean, balanced espresso, or with milk where its sweetness becomes smooth, comforting, and effortlessly drinkable.

Familiar, refined, and a reminder of just how clean and expressive Indonesian coffee can be.

Why we chose this coffee

When creating Malino Srikaya, we wanted to showcase what a single origin espresso could be when given the same care and attention as a filter coffee. Rather than relying on a blend to create balance, this washed lot allows the unique character of Malino to shine, showing just how clean and expressive Indonesian coffee can be as an espresso.

Enjoy it straight, and the difference is immediately clear. The cup is remarkably clean and refined, with a satisfying sweetness layered with caramelised richness and a deep umami character. It’s a reminder that Indonesian coffees can offer far more than traditional heavier profiles.

Of course, a great espresso should also work beautifully with milk. When paired with milk, Malino Srikaya transforms into a smooth and comforting cup, bringing forward its delicate nuttiness and subtle apple-like sweetness while maintaining its clarity and structure.

Origin Story

The Producer

Yolan Tirta, a third-generation coffee producer from South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Building on his family’s long-standing coffee heritage, Yolan founded Yolan Coffee to elevate the quality of Indonesian coffee and empower smallholder farmers in the Topidi-Malino region.

Nestled in the highlands of Gowa, Topidi-Malino offers the perfect conditions for exceptional coffee: cool mountain air, volcanic soil, and abundant rainfall. Yolan works closely with local farmers, providing access to better infrastructure, post-harvest training, and modern processing facilities to ensure consistent, traceable, and high-quality lots.

Yolan’s commitment to experimentation and excellence has earned him recognition in Indonesia’s Cup of Excellence competitions, where his coffees from Topidi have ranked among the nation’s best. Through Yolan Coffee, he continues to inspire and mentor local farmers, merging innovation with tradition to redefine the potential of Indonesian specialty coffee.
