From Indonesia to Melbourne
Our Story
As an Indonesian who migrated to Australia, I’ve always wondered why a country with such a vibrant coffee culture rarely brews or celebrates Indonesian coffee. Despite Indonesia being one of the world’s largest coffee producers, its beans are seldom seen in Australia’s specialty coffee scene.
When I dug deeper, I began to understand why. For decades, much of Indonesia’s coffee was grown as Robusta and produced for commercial use, fueling the daily grind but never showcasing the true potential of Indonesia’s diverse origins.
But that narrative is changing. Over the past few years, Indonesia’s specialty coffee scene has undergone a quiet revolution. Farmers are pushing for higher quality and transparency. Producers are experimenting with innovative processing methods that challenge tradition. International attention has followed, with Jakarta hosting the World of Coffee for the first time, and Indonesian baristas achieving global recognition, including World Barista Champion and World Brewers Cup finalists.
That movement fills me with immense pride. It inspired me to bridge the two coffee cultures that shaped me. Indonesia’s emerging specialty scene and Australia’s world-leading roasting craft. By combining these two worlds, we hope to create something special: sourcing exceptional Indonesian beans and roasting them in Melbourne’s signature style.
To make this possible, we’ve partnered with some of Indonesia’s most passionate producers and Melbourne’s most respected roasters, building a direct, collaborative connection from farm to cup.
To those brewing at home
Unleash your inner barista
I’m not a barista, nor do I own a café, but I’ve fallen in love with coffee through curiosity, passion, and countless home-brew experiments. This brand was born out of that obsession: the desire to understand coffee deeply and to make great brewing accessible to everyone.
I believe the best coffee is the one you make yourself, the cup that reflects your patience, care, and taste. Brewing coffee can be fun, rewarding, and sometimes frustrating, but it’s always worth it. We want to empower every coffee lover to brew with confidence and curiosity.
Because in truth, everyone is a barista, they just don’t know it yet.
What makes specialty coffee "special"?
It's the people
Specialty coffee is more than a score or an altitude number. It’s a story of people, places, and passion. Each bean carries the work of farmers, pickers, processors, exporters, importers, roasters, and brewers who’ve each added something meaningful along the way.
For us, specialty means traceability. We aim to tell you exactly who grew your coffee, where it was farmed, and how it was processed. It’s about acknowledging the human effort behind every cup and maintaining sustainability not only in nature, but in the relationships and communities that make this industry possible.
Sourcing, roasting, and sharing with intent
The devil is in the details
Everything we do is intentional. The coffees we select must meet our standards of quality, traceability, and purpose. We’re not chasing the world’s most expensive micro-lots that only a handful of people can appreciate. Instead, we focus on coffees that are accessible yet distinctive, introducing people to the incredible diversity of Indonesia’s origins.
When it comes to roasting, our philosophy is simple: let the coffee speak for itself. We lean toward light to medium roasts to highlight each bean’s natural characteristics, not to impose our own flavour profile, but to reveal the unique story within every origin and process.
Every detail matters, from sourcing to roasting to brewing, because when done right, even the smallest choices can make a cup truly unforgettable.
