Re-circulation Brewing Method

Re-circulation Brewing Method

Welcome to Vol. 2 Brew Diary by Cêri Coffee.

This is where we slow down and explore brew recipes in a way we enjoy, with curiosity, an open mind, and an appreciation for small, comforting moments.

Today, we’re sharing a Re-circulation Pour Over recipe, inspired by Black Jar's Coffee. Unorthodox yet intentional, this method highlights the bold and intense flavour of the coffee beans.

Overview

Coffee: 20g
Water: 300g
Temperature:
92-93°C
Grind:
Medium
Ratio: 1:15
Filter: Conical V60
Coffee Server: 2

Brew Steps:

1. Bloom (0:00 – 0:30)

    • Pour all 300g of water within 15 seconds
    • Allow to bloom until 0:30

2. Drawdown & Immediate Re-pour (0:30 onward)

    • At 0:30, begin the re-pour regardless of water level remaining
    • Pour the brewed coffee from Server 1 back into the dripper
    • Continue until all liquid has passed through again

Target total brew time: ~2:00

Our Thoughts and Takes:
I think this is a really fun recipe to try, especially since it’s quite different from how we usually brew. It leans towards a stronger, punchier cup, so if that’s what you’re craving, this is definitely one worth trying!
